Seasonal Reflections Through Collage

This March, PLOTTER USA team hosted a special experience at the inaugural San Francisco Stationery Fest called the PLOTTER Lounge. During the PLOTTER Lounge event, we asked attendees to draw a random prompt from our Creative Writing Bar and use that as a basis to create something, whether it’s a short reflection in writing or something more abstract like a collage representing the answer to your prompt.

As we shift seasons, we invite you to take time to get creative and reflect on the season that has passed through creative means. Choose a prompt below, reflect, and then create a response to that prompt. Get creative and use collage materials and your favorite PLOTTER Refill Memo Pad (we suggest the Drawing Paper Refill Memo Pad so you can work with different media).

Seasonal Reflection Prompts for you PLOTTER

  • Seasonal Snapshot: What is one small detail you noticed this past season that you want to preserve before it fades?
  • Letting Go: What is one habit, worry, or expectation you are ready to leave behind with the last season?
  • My Spring Prototype: If this new season had a “prototype,” what would you build or try for the first time? What is the smallest next step?
  • Weather Metaphor: Observe today’s weather. How does it mirror your current creative energy, and what kind of project fits that energy best?
  • PLOTTER Refresh: If you could redesign one page or section in your PLOTTER to match the new season, what would you change and why?
  • Future Me: Create a “Note to Future Me” for the end of this season. What do you hope you will have learned or created by the start of the next season (summer)?

At PLOTTER Lounge, attendees shared their reflections in many different ways. It’s always interesting to see how people respond to prompts and questions when the pressure to answer only in sentences is removed. Get creative, draw, doodle, and collage your responses! This exercise is for you, and it will help you move into the new spring season with confidence and creativity.
