PLOTTER first introduced “Shiranami Leather” with the Japan Blue Project in August 2023 – its first US Exclusive project that includes a line-up of PLOTTER 6-Ring Leather Binders in A5, Bible, and Mini Size, as well as its complementary special Refill Memo Pad made with high-quality blue color paper in “Quadrant Graph”.
“Shiranami” translates to “white-crested waves” – the foamy white edges of turbulent waves at sea that create a stunning and dramatic view. The creation of this leather employs the unique technique of “indigo dye”, developed by a heritage tannery in Himeji to produce a leather with a distinctive expression. The base leather is dyed with natural indigo, then treated with a white waxy surface that represents the foamy waves of its namesake.
Now, there is a new addition to the Shiranami Leather lineup – the flexible and portable Mini 5 Square Size. This new item will be available on the PLOTTER USA Online Shop on September 3rd, 2025, at 9:00 AM PT.
A limited quantity will be available first at the PLOTTER Pop-up Event at Atlas Stationers Sidewalk Sale and the San Francisco International Pen Show 2025.

Shiranami Leather Binder (Mini 5 Square Size)
Shiranami leather is dyed with indigo, but you can still glimpse its white core when looking at the leather’s edge. A white, waxy surface covers the blue color of leather and will recede over time with use and patina. You can enjoy the tasteful change of leather as you handle it every day for notes, journaling, or other creative uses.
The unique expression of Shiranami Leather can now be enjoyed in the Mini 5 Square Size. PLOTTER Leather Binders in Mini 5 Square Size share the same height as a typical leather binder in Mini 5 Size but expand in width for more writing space. This unique form factor was first introduced by PLOTTER in 2022 and is a useful size for taking ample notes on the go. The variation of blue in the Shiranami is also an appealing factor of indigo dye.
